BRIEF PROFILE

I have pursued my higher secondary education with physical sciences as the main subject. Right now I am about to finish my graduation in French and Francophone studies from Doon University (2017-20). I have worked as a content writer, have done internships for Internshala, Booknerds (a book reading society), and have volunteered for Valley of Words International Literature and Arts festival in 2018-19. Apart from this I am a writer and have performed slam poetry in open mics, have won some places too. Last year I also did a small video project on one of my spoken word poems. Besides, I have taken part in various departmental activities regarding the French culture like writing a small play, paper presentations, and poem competitions and have anchored some events of our annual Francophonie festival. Last year I pursued a summer internship cum study program at the University of Mons, Belgium under a scholarship funded by the government of Belgium. I am also working as a part-time French tutor at Pioneers Institute, Dehradun for the last 10 months.

I wish to further enhance my capabilities by pursuing a Masters's in the same domain with a specialization in Translation studies and then work on some research projects related to intercultural studies for my doctorate.

CAREER GOALS

I have always pursued diverse interests since the first day of my learning. Be it flying kites, making sketches, or learning how to perform a wheelie on a bicycle or simply learning how to blog, so my fickle-minded sprit has always taken me to different platforms of learning and made me meet jacks of many fields. I have been good with numbers and writing during my school years. My passion for science led me to complete my higher secondary education with Mathematics and physical sciences but my love for writing made me switch to the arts stream. Finally, after a lot of research and brainstorming, I chose this perfect course called BA (Hons) in French and Francophone studies for my graduation as I had read that most of the recipients of Nobel Prize in literature are francophone writers. Right now I am about to complete my graduation by July and honestly speaking these three years of college education have been wonderful. I explored French literature, francophone culture, developed my interests in Translation studies and now I wish to further complete my Masters in the same subject with a specialization in Translation and FLE (French as a foreign language) studies. The reason I have chosen this particular field of language is the realization that translation is a whole different thing than language learning where you allow yourself to simultaneously think in two, three, or more different cultures moving swiftly between different identities. Why do the same series of Harry Potter have different words with the same meaning for their British and American English translations, why is the French translation of ‘Geetanjali’ considered the best after the English one, how can artificial intelligence still not beat the human translations are some of the questions which I wish to explore during my Masters. After pursuing this summer internship program at Modlingua, I will utilize the resources I would have gained here and during my Masters, I will love to work as a translator cum interpreter to further increase my competency and make myself more competent as per the market demands. And after my Masters, I have plans to apply and pursue an Erasmus program in cultural studies and work on a research project related to intercultural studies. I believe that the time I will devote to language learning will yield some kind of productive material in the years ahead may be in form of a book or a digital platform with the objective of enlightening people about languages and cultures.
